                                                  Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

 

NATURE OF WORK

 

This is a highly skilled employee with experience in the installation, modification, or repair of building electrical systems. The employee reports directly to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor. Shall hold specialized licenses, permits and qualifications as may be necessary to maintain working relationships with technical and management professionals within the maintenance and construction field and as specified below.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

The incumbent must have detailed knowledge of electrical theory, practices, methods, materials and equipment used in the maintenance and repair of commercial and/or governmental buildings, as well as the design and operation of large motors and compressors. 

 

The incumbent must have the ability to diagnose equipment malfunctions and prescribe repair procedures, follow broad written or oral instructions, follow blueprints and diagrams, and to analyze building requirements and recommend systems or modifications. Ability to estimate the amount and value of needed repairs and to requisition items not in stock, to prepare and maintain routine preventive maintenance records and reports, and to train and supervise other workers.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

 

The employee must hold a current Electrician’s license based on the state Board of Electrical Examiners. NCDPI School Electrician License must be obtained within the first six (6) months of employment. If a license was issued by a state other than North Carolina, the employee must be able to obtain a North Carolina license within 12 months from hire date.

 

This employee must hold an appropriate North Carolina drivers license for the weight and type of vehicles operated as required by the Department of Motor Vehicles.

 

The employee must be able and willing to work overtime and weekends as may be required.
