"There's no substitute for a GREAT substitute teacher!"
Dare County Schools is always seeking interested individuals to become substitute teachers in the district. A qualified substitute teacher is vital to continuing student learning in the absence of the regular classroom teacher.
To be eligible, you must:
- Hold a CURRENT teaching license, OR
- Hold at least a high school diploma or equivalent AND
- Be at least two years beyond high school graduation, and
- Successfully completed the required substitute teacher training requirements.
Current Teaching License Applicants
If you hold a current teaching license from any state, applicants must:
- Complete the online application through TalentEd, including three professional references and the following documents uploaded to “Additional Documents” in TalentEd:
- A copy of your most recent teaching license
- Authorization for background check form (linked below)
All Other Applicants
If you do not hold a current teaching license from any state, applicants must:
- Successfully completed the online Effective Substitute Teacher Training course through APP Garden. Use this website to find directions to access and pay for this online course ($29) bit.ly/DCSAppGardenDirections. Once registered, the course can be accessed directly by going to bit.ly/DareSubTraining
- Complete the online application through TalentEd, including three professional references and the following documents uploaded to “Additional Documents” in TalentEd:
- A copy of your certificate of completion of the Effective Substitute Teacher Training course, and
- Authorization for background check form (linked below)
Please note that you will not be considered an active substitute until you have attended and completed the New Substitute Orientation, recieved final DCS Board approval and provided a completed New Employee Hiring Packet.
